Common questions
Where does the '90 days' rule come from?+
FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024 requires a resident juridical person incorporated, established or otherwise recognised in the UAE on or after 1 March 2024 to apply for Corporate Tax registration within 3 months of that date — commonly referred to as a 90-day window, though the legal deadline is set by calendar months, not a fixed day count.
My licence was issued before 1 March 2024 — is the 3-month rule relevant to me?+
No. Businesses licensed before 1 March 2024 follow a fixed historical schedule tied to their licence issuance month, set out directly in FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024. Select that option in the calculator to see your specific date.
I've already missed my registration deadline — what now?+
Register immediately through EmaraTax. Since May 2025, the FTA has been operating a penalty waiver initiative that can exempt you from the AED 10,000 late-registration penalty if your first tax return (or annual declaration) is filed within 7 months of your first tax period's end. See our dedicated penalty waiver page for full details and the official FTA eligibility checker.
Is this calculator legal advice?+
No — it applies the published FTA rules to the date you enter, for general guidance only. Every business has facts that can affect its exact position (transitional cases, group structures, PE questions). Speak with a registered tax agent to confirm your specific deadline before relying on any online calculator, including this one.
